Hyères, France: A Trip To Look Forward To

This time last year, your mind was probably filled with imaginations of spending the beautiful and sunny days away from Paris. Sadly, Corona Virus happens. The sun may be shining so brightly but we still feel gloomy deep within us.

But what keeps us going when life gets tough is having something to look forward to. It could be reuniting with our loved ones, seeing them having a good future, or a short-term one like going on a trip.

The confinement will be lifted soon but it does not mean that we are back to normal. The risks and fear still remain. However, this should not prevent us from dreaming and planning a trip once we have the go signal.

You may have been to Nice and the isle of Greece while you sipped champagne on a yacht or moved like Harlow in Monte Carlo and showed them what you’ve got. You’ve been to a lot of places BUT…have you been to Hyères ?

If you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, Hyères is the place. If you don’t have a car, no problem. There are buses there and walking along the coast is a wonderful thing to do.

To minimize the expenses in going there, you might want to check for TGV promos going to Marseilles or Toulon and from there take the TER to Hyères. Travel time may take 5-7 hours depending on your train. Going there by plane is another option and it would only take 1h30 mins.

As for the lodging, you can find Airbnb around 50€. The strategic places to stay would be near the Port de Hyères, La Capte, near La Tour-Fondue and Giens as there are grocery stores, restaurants, and the bus. Beaches are everywhere so you will never have a problem looking for a place.

For a real adventure, take a walk on the wild side. If you’re not scared of forests and heights, you can take a coastal trek. Be awed with the gigantic white rocks and the clear blue water of the Mediterranean. A lot of creeks along the way are accessible too so you can stop and swim while enjoying the serenity.

Bringing the plan of the bus stops and schedule might come in handy when you got tired of walking until your hotel.
